[Comments: 0] 12:52 AM - what?-real-weekends?
So, it's been a couple weeks since my last post, and much business has ensued. Our customer dinner and HostingCon went excellently, and we have continued to expand our progress into our new datacenter. We moved all the storage and spare parts this past week into the new space, to comply with building requests. At the same time, we reorganized all these things. Adnan has taken on the task of finding and removing unused network cable from the old datacenter, and we're being increasingly careful to label and document cable runs, visitors, and other things to make organization a much higher priority, so that in the long run, everything should remain coherent and manageable, which is going to make my life, and our techs' lives easier!
Last weekend, following HostingCon, for which Ray visited us in Chicago, Karl, Joe, and I took Ray back up to Oshkosh, WI. We toured Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and met up with a couple of Karl's friends from the area. We stayed one night at Ray's parents' house and one night at Karl's dad's. We also got to see Ray's Plymouth apartment where he will live while attending Lakeland College, which we also dropped by. All in all, a good fun trip, and my first to Wisconsin, which is a very nice state.
This past day I spent in the area of Dixon and Sterling, Joe's current work and living place. He works at a paper there, of which we toured the news room and printing press room. We also stopped by to try a wholly uninteresting local delicacy called "Chicken George" (chicken fingers, special sauce), and went bowling, for lack of other options. We also saw the wholly uninteresting boyhood home of Ronald Reagan, with whom much of this area is apparently obsessed. It was a fun trip. Karl and I met up with friends Steph, Ben, and David around 1 PM and spent the day there, and I've just returned home.
Tomorrow and the following weekend hold no current plans for me, but it was great to finally have something to do on a weekend, that didn't involve sitting at home on my computer! :)
