I called up the sales office for my condo today and they told me letters went out this past week informing us that they're approaching the closing date! From what I am told, my unit will be ready for my inspection on October 1st, and closing on October 8th. My plan is to probably move on October 13th or so, since that's a weekend and will not interfere with work.
Now I've got to get some preparation work done as things close in, so I'll probably be nutty, excited, and frazzled for the next 35 days or so. ;)

I'm quite decided on the fact that I need to get a pet fairly soon. I'm living with a cat now, and that's not bad. Chester is tolerable, and if I am careful not to aggravate my allergies, he can sometimes be enjoyable, but I really would much rather have a pet that I'm not allergic to that will behave more like a dog... ;)
I've basically grown up with dogs around, and I love them, and when I was just back home on Long Island for a few days I realized how much I miss having one around. My money's going to be tight for the first little bit after I get my condo, I am certain, but I am going to put a reasonable priority on making the time and money to get a dog.
I'm not sure whether it makes sense to get a puppy, what breed would be best, etc, yet. I've been thinking a Labrador of some kind, and I would like to get a puppy, but I really need to do some research and spend some time deciding what I really want to do.
I, unfortunately, still haven't heard anything about the condo. This was supposed to be an early August thing originally, and last time I checked they had pushed it to early September. I would consider early September to be before the 10th, and as they haven't closed ANY condos in the building yet, I am certain the fifth floor will not be any time soon. I was hoping for 30 days notice, but as I am really, really ready to get going now, I'd take 10. However, I am not really expecting to be able to move in until late October at this rate (based upon the way things have been going). My mom was going to try to come out here to help me get settled in, but since school is starting up for her, it becomes a scheduling challenge now. If I'm very lucky, Columbus day weekend will be a plausible option.
I've started to get up every day at 11 AM this past week. I'm hoping to readjust to 10 AM next week, provided I can consistently get to bed by 2 AM. Weekends are still fair game for staying up till I drop and sleeping until I feel like getting out of bed. I want to be in a state where getting up at 10 AM works for me, so that I have some time to myself before I have to rush in to work, and so that if I need to ever get up at 8 or 9 AM to get something done, I will actually be able to make a smoother adjustment. We'll see how it goes. :)
It is my intention to start eating breakfast now that I am getting up earlier. Having more than 1 meal a day should be healthier for me in the long run. I have been meaning to build myself an exercise routine but I always give up because I can't seem to build a consistent schedule. That is now phase one, in progress, so perhaps I can squeeze an couple hours a week into it and start using the fitness center or other means to lose some weight and get in better shape. Wish me luck? :)
All else seems more or less well and good. Be back later!
